Keeping Your Cool Under False Allegations

By Marcus Vance

There is a specific kind of fear that comes with a false allegation. It is the fear of being disbelieved.

I learned that the courtroom does not reward the loudest voice. It rewards the calmest, most documented one. Every message I sent became evidence. So I wrote every one as if the judge were reading it, because eventually one did.

I protected details that were not mine to share, and I focused on what I could control: showing up, following every order to the letter, and keeping a clean record. The truth did not arrive all at once. It arrived in a stack of dated, consistent, unremarkable facts.

Again, this is my story, framed to protect the people in it. Talk to a licensed attorney in your state about your specific situation.
