Why I Fought 382 Days for 50/50 Custody

By Marcus Vance

382 days. I counted every one.

There were nights I wanted to quit, nights the paperwork blurred and the legal fees terrified me. But every other weekend was never going to be enough, not for me and not for them.

I kept a documentation habit that became my anchor: pickups, drop-offs, school events, doctor visits, the ordinary proof of an ordinary, present father. I learned my state's statutes. I found professionals who believed dads matter. And I never let a bad day in court become a bad day for my children.

This site exists because I made it through, and because too many fathers are walking that road alone. You are not alone. That is the whole point.

This is the founder's personal, lived experience, shared to encourage other fathers and written to protect identifying details. It is not legal advice. Every case and state is different — please consult a licensed attorney in your state.
